Fresh .Out of Everywhere !!

Yes, here iam , almost 5 years after i first fancied of going abroad for studies, staring at myself in the mirror reflecting a deep sense of gratification and bubbling excitement. I couldnt have expected any better !!

The past few weeks have been distasteful. I was grappling with a very strong sense of nostalgie - the one that almost each one of us felt everytime we moved into someplace new. A feeling of feeling excited about the future and at the same time guilty of being happy since the time you spent on forging relationships all this while are seeing some distance.Nostalgia is something that I have always been afraid of and till today haven’t found a dodge-route around it. It becomes quite difficult to digest the fact that what defined your life for the recent years would cease to exist and life again takes one of its characteristic turns to an uncharted destination. All that remain with you now are those moments that you had lived during those times and of-course the regret of how-i-wish-it-could-have-been-better.

But well What the hell ??!! Do i always live in this anorexia of past ?

I couldnt have asked for a better composition of the class than it is at the moment. People from all parts of the world and all corners of human existance and all cultures. Certainly, I would have paid a bomb to just be a part of this class . Nevermind what i was taught. I think this cultural, ethnical, linguistic and culinary diversity can initiate us into the world we are set to venture into - A world where the defining geo-political borders have dissipiated to form a global village, where every human being has equal oppurtunities . It would be our effort, in the future, to tap the potential of this recent politico-cultural marriage and create new businesses that aim to create a better world out of the existing one. The disparity that exists between various strate of the society needs to give way to a healthy and congenial environment. Maing money is not our aim but making better money and lifestyle is .

For our decisions, i can safely assume that we all are and will remain to be in awe of the emerging economies. The centre of gravity is shifting eastwards, somewhere in Asia where almost 1/2 of the mankind lives. But we still have more than half of world's poor . Despite an advantageous demographic dividend, we lag behind. For various reasons. India is the only young country in the otherwise aging world. 52% of our population is youth ! and mind you 52% could well be more than the combined population of Europe and Australia !

Bottomline - Huge potential and a virgin market. Lets go explore !!

Lets begin this blog by knowing eah of us a little better. Please introduce yourselves in the comments section and let us know what you feel , how excited are you and what are your plans for the future ?

Just speak up !!

While i shut up :o)

Cheers !!

  4. Hi Chirag! I'm Aki from Japan. I'm 24 years old, and I'd been an NGO staff for 3 years including 1 year of internship started from 2006, when I was in senior year at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto.

Through the NGO, I'd stayed in several countries such as Iran, Afghanistan and Jordan to support some projects. I also stayed in Brazil for a year when I was a high school student. So, emerging markets and the problems surrounding so-called developing countries have intrigued me since then.

I'll be in Edinburgh from 14th of August to take pre-sessional course to improve my English. Looking forward to meeting all the classmates soon.

    Best,
    Aki Mugita
